Get the Look: Mixed Metals

Mixed Metals

We get a lot of questions from customers about undertone—beyond just finding your best foundation match ever— for other items like blush, eyeshadow, and lip color. For holiday shopping, our goal is to take the guesswork out of it for you with universally flattering options for everyone on your list

Our Pressed Eyeshadow Duos are the perfect example of one of these looks put to the test—we call it “mixed metals.” Warm golden-toned metallics blend with cool silver tones for an eye enhancing pearlescent finish. For intense color payoff, apply with Eye Primer or a dampened brush. For a softer look, simply swipe it on with a fingertip and blend for an effortlessly-chic smoked-out finish.

Here’s what you can expect from each duo:

Icon + Instinct - Two pearly metals--one silver, one espresso--that layer together for the metallic taupe smoky eye. Icon adds a brightening silvery sheen and Instinct suffuses rich, bronze-toned espresso into the mix.

Volt + Gamine - A deep carbon black that blends to charcoal, and a muted rose gold that brightens and tempers Volt to a cool, purple-toned smoke. Together, they leave a cool, pearly graphite finish that enhances the warmth of your eye color.

Luxe + Dusk - Two of our favorite shades individually (beloved for their universally-flattering bold hues) come together to add drama, and a warm iridescence to your eyeshadow look. Use your fingertip or dampened Mini Blending Brush to layer Dusk over Luxe for deep blue metallic finish with a warm golden sheen.

Ethereal + Phantom - Two versatile matte shades--one light, one deep. A soft wash of silky neutral Ethereal brightens and evens the eye area, creating a smooth canvas for a rich layer of matte espresso Phantom blended with the Contour Shadow Brush. It’s the perfect combination for someone who prefers mattes to metals.
