Team Alima Talks Brows: Pencils, Powders, Brushes, Hacks & Hints

Alima Pure Natural Definition Brow Pencils

Good brow days are the new good hair days, and the range of options for filling in and defining your brows is as diverse as our brows themselves. I asked some members of Team Alima to share their brow routines, favorite AP brow products, and general thoughts about their own brows.

Here’s what they said:

"I think my brows are full and nicely shaped, so I need very little maintenance… or I'm just lazy. When I "up-do" my brows, I love using our Brow Brush + Comb to comb my whole brow line upwards. I use our Light Natural Definition Brow Pencil to fill in the thinner spots using a sweeping, upward motion until I have covered the whole brow. Then I brush my brow back to its most natural shape. The process takes me less than a minute because our brow pencil is so easy to use." -Ashley, Production

"I don't think I've ever actually described my eyebrows. They are ashy, I think? I love Medium Natural Definition Brow Pencil. Just a quick fill-in with the pencil in the am and that's it! Bam! I am very low maintenance in that area." -Anna, Digital Strategist

"Satin Matte Eyeliner in Espresso applied with the Precision Angle Brush--EVERYDAY!" -Urmila, VP of Sales + Marketing

"Like any pre-teen girl of the early '00s, my brows have some sparse places from unfortunate tweezing. I've traditionally been a powder gal because it looks so natural, but lately I'm loving Deep Natural Definition Brow Pencil because it blends so well and I can really quickly fill in small places." -Sarah, Marketing Associate

"I love that brows are having such a moment. Mine are still dark but thinning a bit. I love brow powder--it's so easy to use when I'm in a hurry and looks soft and natural. I use Satin Matte Eyeshadow in Raven and sometimes a bit of Medium Natural Definition Brow Pencil." -Kate, Founder & CEO

Debating Powder vs. Pencil?

Using Satin Matte Eyeshadow or Satin Matte Eyeliner as a brow powder makes your brows appear naturally fuller and covers any sparseness. The Precision Angle Brush is your BFF here.  Use it to fill in the brows with short strokes, moving in the direction that your hair grows. Keep the application lighter near the beginning and ends of your brows, and concentrate the powder toward the middle. Blend well with the Brow Brush + Comb.

Satin Matte Eyeshadow in Ash - For medium blond brows or lighter
Satin Matte Eyeshadow in Blond - For blond to light brown brows
Satin Matte Eyeshadow in Auburn - For brunettes with a hint of red
Satin Matte Eyeshadow in Mahogany - For medium brunette brows
Satin Matte Eyeshadow in Raven - For dark brunette brows

Satin Matte Eyeliner in Espresso - For deep brunette and black brows

Natural Definition Brow Pencils help add a little volume to the brows with natural oils and waxes. They're very soft, so they blend easily and leave soft, natural lines. Fill the brows with short, feathery strokes, moving upward and outward to mimic the direction of your brow hairs. Blend well with the Brow Brush + Comb.
