A Birthday Message From Alima Pure
We are thrilled to be celebrating 14 years in business! We use our birthday celebration as a moment to gather as a team and talk about things other than logistics--a chance to connect with other coworkers in a more personal way. We are able to step back from the daily work and reflect on what it is to be a part of Alima Pure. We hope that you find a little time to think about that this week as well, because as our wonderful customers, you are all an integral part of Alima. In fact, we can go so far as to say that we wouldn’t be here without you! Thank you for enabling us to spend our days doing what we love.
While many things have changed over the years; we've added new products, updated the look of our packaging, and expanded into over 150 stores in more than 10 countries, the heart of Alima Pure remains unchanged.
We are a woman-owned business. Some people are surprised to learn that we are actually a very small team, rounding out at about 15 people (and 2-4 dogs, depending on the day), with tasks ranging from marketing to fulfillment, to production.
Since day one we've prioritized finding ways to give back to our community and the environment, whether that be via volunteering, our annual holiday giving season, or our other initiatives. We are long-time contributors to 1% For the Planet, where we donate 1% of our gross sales. We offset 100% of our carbon emissions and are proud to have been the first color cosmetics company to be a certified B Corporation.
One way we encourage giving back on an individual level is by granting each employee paid volunteer time. While reflecting on the past year as a team, we chatted about some of our most memorable volunteer experiences. Here’s what our team had to say:
"I have loved all of the volunteer experiences we have had together as a team, but one that stands out to me was wrapping Christmas presents for CASA, an organization that works with foster children. The gifts were distributed to foster children in the Portland Metro, who would otherwise have been without gifts that holiday season." - Sara, Brand Director
"We packed up boxes of salt, beans, and coffee at the Oregon Food Bank to distribute to local families and shelters. I enjoyed being a tiny part of a greater good and seeing firsthand the level of detail and support from regular volunteers required to run an organization like the Food Bank." - Grace, Content Strategist
"We went to Human Solutions Holiday Store, an organization that helps low income and homeless families during the often difficult holiday season. The holiday store allows parents, with the assistance of a volunteer, to select free gifts for their children ranging in age from newborn to 17 years old. The community of staff and volunteers at this organization was so enthusiastic and supportive and the clients were very appreciative and thankful. It feels like a small thing for these families but this small thing feels more personal when you are directly assisting the people the community strives to serve." - Karin, VP of Operations
"Forest Park takes volunteers through the park to cut down invasive ivy that grows up the base of the trees. It will inevitably smother the forest if it isn’t removed, so a group of us participated in an ivy pull. I loved being outside and being able to enjoy our public spaces. It is so important to preserve them and I love that we have been a part of that. It is so rewarding do something physical where you see immediate results." - Hannah, Makeup Artist and Media Relations
"I volunteered with the SPCA: Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. It was so gratifying helping out and I loved taking the dogs for walks. All those animals just need more love!" - Kathy, Digital Marketing Manager
We are excited for another year of growth, giving back, and some fun surprises. Thank you for coming with us on this journey, for offering your kind words and feedback, and for continuing to choose Alima Pure. We couldn't do it without you.
