Standards

Exacting Standards

“Natural” seems to be about as common a word as “Smith” or “Jones” these days. We believe how we make our natural cosmetics should mean something. We went looking for the most rigorous test we could find so that you can be assured that the Alima products you use on your skin are all natural and nothing more. And we are proud to say that we passed with flying colors. All Alima Pure products have BDIH natural cosmetics certification, which is a highly coveted German certification for natural cosmetics. It’s safe to say that there is no cheating allowed.

BDIH in a nutshell.

Since 1996, the Federation of German Industries and Trading Firms (BDIH) have been working with leading producers of natural cosmetics, mostly in Europe, to develop comprehensive guidelines. Their standards are highly demanding and backed by an independent institute.

In fact, Alima Pure is honored to be the second U.S. cosmetics company to receive the prestigious BDIH natural cosmetics certification. We’re so proud to be recognized and certified, we’re blushing.

Why European standards?

European standards are more in line with our own philosophy toward natural cosmetics. The European Union has banned more than 1000 chemicals that are considered unsafe for use in cosmetics, while the U.S. FDA has banned only 10. Sad but true. BDIH standards go beyond the European Union Cosmetics Directive in order to ensure that certified products contain only the safest natural ingredients, and are created and packaged in an environmentally and socially responsible manner. And that is a beautiful thing.
