The response to our 2 for $12 on select eyeshadow shades has been so overwhelming that we decided to extend it through the weekend. A couple of shades have sold out, so we have replaced them with two different shades.
The sale now includes Satin Matte Eyeshadows in Fawn, Chamomile, Dove, Rain, Bayou, Chestnut, Sand and Juniper. Pearlusters in the sale are Sky, Platinum, Cimarron, Viola and Toffee; and Luminous Shimmer Eyeshadows in Aria, Dream, Gold Dust, Hyacinth, Mirage, Moss, Ombra, Pyrite, Sienna and Navy. Finish your look with a Luminous Shimmer Eyeliner in Koan or Maya.
You have probably been told that when you apply your makeup, you need to pick either warm or cool colors and stick to them for your entire face. While that isn't bad advice, there are exceptions to the rule, and conveniently, our Cold Outside and Warm Inside collections contain some of the very best shades with which to break the rules!
Justine is wearing shades from both Cold Outside and Warm Inside. We started with her Beige 4 foundation. We brushed Rosy Cheeks form the Cold Outside collection on the apples of her cheeks.
On her eyes, we applied Candlelight from the Warm Inside Collection from lashes to brows. On her lids, we applied Mulled Cider, also from Warm Inside. Then we used a damp #33 Angle Liner Brush to line her upper lid with Jack Frost from Cold Outside, winging the liner at the outer corner just a bit. When you are thinking of mixing warms and cools, remember that golden shades look especially beautiful with blues and purples.
We finished the look with a light dusting of shimmer powder Fire Light from Warm Inside on the tops of her cheekbones, and shined her lips with Organic Nourishing Lipbalm in Mango. Who knew breaking rules could be so pretty?
You've seen Cold Outside on a real person, and now here is Warm Inside on Jessica!
We started with her foundation, Beige 2. Then we applied Candlelight from her lashes to her brows and Mulled Cider on her lids. We brushed Hot Toddy into the crease, and concentrated a little bit at the outer corner of her eye, then applied it with a damp #33 brush along her upper lashes. A touch of Satin Matte Eyeshadow in Raven filled in her brows.
We swept Firelight Luminous Shimmer Powder along the tops of Jessica's cheekbones with the #23 Kitten Brush, and dusted what remained on the brush across her forehead. We added a touch of Satin Matte Blush in Pink to the apples of her cheeks, and finished the look with a sheer layer of Organic Nourishing Lip Balm in Sweet Pea.
I recently used up an entire Alima Pure eyeshadow. If you own any of our shadows, you know that this is not all that easy to do! The shadows last a long time, to say the least. But Gazelle Luminous Shimmer Shadow has overtaken all other shadows as my "go-to." When you wear an eyeshadow daily, it does eventually run out!
What is it about Gazelle that makes it so perfect? Well, for me at least, everything! The shade, a soft beige that is not too far from my natural skin tone (Beige 2). But what makes it really special is the shimmer. It's not sparkly like some of the other Luminous Shimmer Shadows, but it is not pearly like a Pearluster. It is just the right amount of shimmer to brighten up my eye area without looking inappropriate for my age.
If your skin is more of a neutral or cool, and maybe slightly deeper, Chai Luminous Shimmer Shadow may end up being the "go-to" shade for you. I just used it on a Neutral 5 today, and the effect was similar to Gazelle on my skin, and it was beautiful! If you have darker skin, Palomino Luminous Shimmer Shadow would fit the bill for you.
And here's a little good news, if you happen to be looking for an entire set that is perfect for every day, our Simply Perfect Collection is available on the website for a limited time only. It contains my favorite Gazelle, but also Luminous Shimmer Eyeshadow in Tigereye and Satin Matte Blush in Pink. It is a great set for daily wear or as a gift to introduce someone to the wonders of Alima Pure mineral cosmetics!

Alima Pure’s Midsummer Night’s Dream collection is inspired by one of Shakespeare’s most accessible and best-loved comedies. Featuring love potions, mischievous fairies and star-crossed lovers, the play is filled with beautiful Elizabethan-era imagery. With these four colors, you can create a look worthy of the Queen of Fairies or an eloping noble’s daughter.
Queen of the Fairies look
Apply Titania from lashes to brow. Add Oberon in the crease and outer corner, and apply with a damp brush to upper lash line.
Apply Helena from lashes to brows and Hermia in the crease and outer corner. Line the upper lashes with Oberon and the lower lashes with Titania.
The Midsummer Night’s Dream collection is available for a limited time for $30, with $2 from each purchase going to the Global Fund for Women.
(The headline, "The course of true love never did run smooth" is a quote from A Midsummer Night's Dream, spoken by the character Lysander to his love, Hermia. If you have never read the play, we highly recommend you read it on a balmy summer evening!)
If you are new to mineral shadows, you may be wondering how you can get the colors to show up the way they look in the jar. Because the loose powders contain no binders, they can go on more sheer than a traditional shadow, but there are ways to eliminate that difference.
The simplest way to get your shadows to look vibrant and rich is also a great way to increase the wear and help prevent creasing. Simply work the shadow into the brush as you would to wear it dry, but right before you apply the shadow to the eye, lightly spritz the end of the brush with water. In the above photo, Mariama is wearing Leone, one of our most shimmery shadows, which also means it is more sheer than a shadow with less sparkle. The eye on the right side of the photo was applied dry with a #39 brush. The left side of the photo was also applied with the #39, but spritzed with water before applying. As you can see, wetting this shimmer intensifies both the color and the shimmer level, and has the added benefit of wearing longer without creasing!
