A little while ago, we let you in on what cleansers were working well for the Alima Pure staff. Now we’re ready to share our favorite moisturizing products with you. Again, please keep in mind that what works for us may or may not work for you, and we haven’t tried everything on the market, by any means! We just have a few things we really like, and if your skin type is similar, you might like them as well.
Amanda says, “I have a hard time finding skin care products that are compatible with my skin, I have VERY sensitive skin, especially on my face and hands (contact dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis), but I panic (literally, I have anxiety about it) if I do not have moisturizer because I can't stand the feeling of dry skin.”
First on Amanda’s list is Avalon Organics Vitamin C Renewal Moisture Plus Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 15. She says, “This moisturizer has a fresh energizing scent, nice and light feel (for an SPF lotion). It does burn a little bit if I have a rash on my face, though.”
Amanda also likes Ole Henriksen Nurture Me. “I love this moisturizer, it is a heavier cream that is formulated for sensitive skin and rosacea. The scent is heavenly, like an orange creamsicle (it is rare that I get to have the pleasure of wearing any scented lotions).”
Hannah, who you may remember from our cleanser post, has normal to sensitive skin, and prefers vegan or vegetarian formulas with no animal testing. She currently has a favorite for day and one for night. “During the day I always wear SPF moisturizer. Kimberly Sayer Organic Ultra Light Facial Moisturizer – SPF 30 is my go-to. It absorbs fasts, but hold moisture.“
For nighttime, Hannah says, “I've recently started using Desert Essence Daily Essential Facial Moisturizer as my night cream. It is a rich gentle formula that replenishes my skin through the night. The best thing is it's cheap...under $10!”
Terresa, who has normal skin, swears by Keys Luminos Moisturizer. “It is thick and creamy, but absorbs quickly without leaving any oily residue behind. The only drawback is that it doesn’t have sun protection, so I usually only wear it at night. I haven’t found a moisturizer with SPF that I love yet.”
Alyson, who has very dry skin, usually adds a little “oomph” to her moisturizer. “I always have a bottle of argan oil around to pump into whatever moisturizer I'm using. I love combining other oils (sweet almond, olive oil, etc.) into my moisturizer for an added boost of hydration, but argan is my oil of choose right now. My go-to moisturizer is Alaffia's Baobab & Shea Butter Skin Renewal Face Cream which is intensely hydrating but not too greasy. It easy to find at my local natural grocery, responsibly made nearby in Olympia, WA, and has an amazing ingredient list. However, in the winter time there's nothing better than Weleda's Skin Food moisturizer for all day moisture. I always tell my friends that it's the natural version of Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream.”
