I have naturally rosy cheeks and this evens my skin tone out
I'm new to makeup and this is the only primer I've ever tried so I don't have much to compare it to! However, I have fair skin with quite a bit of redness and I think the Pistachio primer works well to help mask it. It doesn't provide much coverage, nor did I expect it to, but after applying it and stepping back in the mirror, my complexion does appear more balanced and less blotchy. Sometimes I don't bother to wear foundation and use this on its own. It's very soft feeling too! Overall, I'm very happy
I recently purchased this primer In Buttercup and have to say, it is awesome, as are all the face products from Alima! This just adds to the overall satin quality one achieves when using this primer along with the foundation and setting powder. . I am a 76 year old woman, and inevitably while shopping in Sephora, salespersons ask what skincare line I use. I always tell them it’s not the skincare but rather the Alima makeup on my skin. It’s the best I have ever used, and at age 76, one knows I’ve tried many! It hides discolorations, blemishes, and gives a glow all at the same time. This Buttercup primer evens out the skin under the eye. With all this going for it, along with the purity, I would totally recommend!
The primer was thankfully not too green and the Satin Matte Foundation applied nicely over the primer. With that, having redness in only certain spots (like around nose), even with multiple thin layers of primer, the appearance of redness wsan't diminished. I am a fan of Alima Pure foundation and blush but was quite disappointed in the primer.
The powder provides a slight coverup for redness. It's not as much coverage as I hoped, and it dries out my skin a bit (my nose is pretty red and skin is dry), but it's definitely better than nothing and allows me to wear less foundation. So I wouldn't say it's a cure all, but if you have very light redness or discoloration it should work.
