Color Balancing Powder is our secret weapon against skin discolorations, and it is on sale now! You can learn all about its almost magical powers in our latest Q & A.
What is Color Balancing Powder?
Color Balancing Powder minimizes skin discolorations. It’s quite sheer, so it doesn’t actually appear green, pink, or yellow on the skin. Instead it subtly neutralizes those unwanted discolorations. That’s why we think it’s magical.
How do I use it to correct surface redness in my skin?
A light application of pale green Pistachio Color Balancing Powder will banish redness. Though it doesn’t look green on the skin, we recommend using it beneath your foundation. It works beautifully for dermatitis, rosacea, and even mild sunburn. Best of all, its super gentle. And it’s Alima’s top seller.
My skin looks sallow and tired. How can I counteract this? Lavender Color Balancing Powder will instantly brighten your skin. This pale purple shade will enliven your complexion, and neutralize yellow dull tones in your skin. Again, we recommend a light application beneath your foundation.
I’m not looking to correct anything, I just want to brighten my complexion. Is there a shade for me?
We suggest you check out Buttercup. This pale yellow shade will soften slight redness, add warmth, and brighten up any complexion.
How and where do I apply Color Balancing Powder?
We recommend our #23 Kitten Brush for the perfect light application. These powders can be applied to targeted areas, or your entire face depending on your individual skin needs. Although, they are meant to be worn under your foundation, if no extra coverage is desired they can be used sparingly on their own.

Emma Stone always looks naturally gorgeous but she really outdid herself at this year’s Met Ball with an effortless sun-kissed makeup look. Enjoy our “get the look” step-by-step on how to achieve this radiant photo-ready red carpet look.
1. Apply your shade of Satin Matte Foundation (Emma is a Warm 1) with a #25 Brush to freshly moisturized skin. For this look, try for sheer coverage by blending your Satin Matte Foundation more than usual (buffing with a tissue can be really helpful here).
4. Pop Melon Satin Matte Blush onto the apples of the cheeks, and then blend to the hairline with your #23 Kitten Brush (with the leftover Olympia Radiant Powder on the bristles). This creates a gentle terracotta glowing blush.
6. Prep the eyes with a wash of Silk Pearluster Eyeshadow over the lids and up to the brow bone using a #39 Large Eyeshadow Brush.
9. Finish the eyes by curling the lashes and applying two coats of Natural Definition Mascara in black to both the top and bottom lashes.
10. Finally, finish the look with two coats of Lotus Lip Tint - it’s the perfect raspberry pink shade to compliment this effortlessly glam look. Have fun!
Welcome to our new "Alima Pure Staff Favorite" series, where staffers pick their one, current favorite product. It is your chance to see what everyone "behind the scenes" chooses to wear, when they have the full line available to them. We started out with Robin, whose current favorite product is our Luminous Shimmer Blush in Garnet.
Robin is pregnant, and maybe partly because of that, or maybe because we haven't had much sun here in Portland up until the last couple of weeks, she loves the brightness of Garnet, and the way it wakes up her complexion. She said, "I like Garnet because it's a bright, refreshing pop of color for paler skin, perfect for when you want a rosy cheek versus a bronzed look." Because she is expecting, Robin especially appreciates that she doesn't need to worry about applying Garnet to her skin. "It seems like pregnant women have to be careful about everything, but I know this doesn't have any dyes or harmful chemicals in it."
We have to admit, we were a little surprised that Robin chose Garnet. After all, it is a bright, vivid shade (one of our top recommendations for deep skin tones), and Robin has relatively fair skin. But once she showed us how great it looks on her, we were sold! Her application tip is to use a fluffy brush, like our #23 Kitten Brush. Several of us immediately added Garnet to our personal wish-lists. To her credit, Robin was surprised at our surprise. She told us, "You shouldn't be afraid of color--try something new!" She's right of course, and embracing a bright shade that we might otherwise overlook is a great way to break free from a color rut!
