The Right Tool for the Job: #3 Concealer Brush

Posted on January 13, 2012 by terresa | 0 Comments

#3 Brush in action Designed for concealing larger areas (rather than tiny blemishes), the Alima Pure #3 Concealer brush is shaped much like a brush that you would use to apply liquid foundation, but it is about 1/2 the size of those brushes. This style of brush distributes a heavier layer of foundation than our #25 Foundation Brush, so if you just need extra coverage, you can use your regular foundation with this brush. It also works with our Concealer if you need very opaque coverage.

The tapered bristles and compact size make this brush perfect for the areas where we generally need a little more help; the inner corners of the eyes, under eyes, around the nose and the edges of the lips. Just a dip in the foundation jar and the difference in coverage in these areas can be amazing!

If you wear the Color Balancing Powder, particularly in Pistachio, the #3 Brush can also give a more opaque layer of this to tone down redness under your foundation. And if you like to wear foundation or just a matte base shadow on your lids before you do your eyes, the brush is perfect for eyes as well. Once you own it, you'll wonder how you got along without this multi-tasking tool!

The #3 Concealer Brush is specially priced until January 16 at only $10, marked down from the regular price of $16. If you haven't yet invested in this handy brush, you will definitely want to take advantage of this special price!

Posted on December 29, 2011 by terresa | 3 Comments

Resolve to add some color to your life by broadening your eyeshadow collection! Select eyeshadows and liners are on sale now through January 5, 2 for $12. (Regularly priced at $11 each.)

This year's sale includes Satin Matte Eyeshadows in Aloe, Chamomile, Dove, Rain, Bayou, Chestnut, Sand and Wedgwood. Pearlusters at the special price are Sky, Platinum, Cimarron, Viola and Toffee; Luminous Shimmer Eyeliners included in the sale are Maya and Koan. If shimmer is more your thing, choose from Aria, Dream, Gold Dust, Hyacinth, Mirage, Moss, Ombra, Pyrite, Sienna and Navy.

Want to bring out your baby-blues?  Try Satin Matte Chamomile as your base shade with Luminous Shimmer Gold Dust or Satin Matte Sand on your lid.  Emphasize your crease with Luminous Shimmer Pyrite and line with Koan.  For a more subtle look, use Sand as your base, Pearluster Toffee on your lid and line with Satin Matte shadow in Chestnut.

To bring out the green in your eyes, use Luminous Shimmer Hyacinth as your base, Pearluster Viola on the lid and a touch of Luminous Shimmer Ombra or Aria at the outer corner of the eye.  Line with Koan or your outer corner color.  For an alternate look, try Satin Matte Aloe as a base, Luminous Shimmer in Moss or Satin Matte Bayou in the crease and line with Maya.

And if you are a brown-eyed girl, use Luminous Shimmer Dream as a highlight shade under your brow, and put Satin Matte Wedgwood or Pearluster Sky on your lid.  Smudge Luminous Shimmer Navy into your crease and use it damp as your liner.  For a more every-day brown-eyed look, use Dream as a base on the entire lid, use Luminous Shimmer Sienna or Pearluster Cimarron on the outer 1/3 of the lid and blended into the crease and line with more Sienna.

Glam it up with a little Holiday Glow!

Posted on December 01, 2011 by terresa | 0 Comments

Holiday Glow This week Alima Pure has a special on three of our Luminous Shimmer Powders (your choice of Lumina, Sorbet or Dolce) and the amazing #21 Buff Brush for only $25. This great value makes a great gift and is also a fun way to treat yourself, but how exactly do you use a shimmer powder?

During the holidays, it is fun to add a bit of glam to your regular look with a touch of shimmer on the tops of the cheekbones or under the brow bone. If confined to these two areas, there is no reason you can't wear shimmer powder during the day.

At night, let your imagination run wild! In addition to the brow bone and cheekbones, you can dab a small amount of shimmer on the bridge of the nose and the chin, and run a bit across the forehead. Or if you are truly not shimmer-phobic, tap out some of your Satin Matte Foundation into a bowl or on a paper towel and mix a small amount of the shimmer powder in, to give you a subtle, but radiant glow. You can also apply the shimmer powder to the lips, either mixed with your favorite lip color, or dabbed on top (focus on the center of the lips, don't go clear out to the sides). If you apply a small amount to the center of your lower lip, you can create a pouty, fuller look.

If you are wearing something that is either low-cut or has a wide neckline, dust shimmer on exposed skin. If you're wearing bare shoulders, carry the shimmer across your shoulders, gradually blending it down the arms.

If you're wearing a skirt, pour some body lotion into your hand and then tap shimmer powder on top. Mix the two well and apply to your legs. Don't go overboard here, because you don't want it to rub off on everything you touch. Just a tiny bit will adhere nicely with the lotion and should wear for hours.

Just a little spritz!

Posted on October 25, 2011 by terresa | 0 Comments

The Alima Pure Atomizer It may sound a little silly at first, why would anyone want a little spray bottle for water?  But if you are a devoted Alima Pure wearer, you probably already know...it is not silly at all!  Our atomizer can be very handy when you are applying your makeup.

When you are applying your foundation (in several sheer layers, of course), sometimes it can start to look a little dry, especially when the weather is changing as it is in many places right now.  Mist your face very lightly with the atomizer and allow the mist to air dry.  Suddenly what looked a little dry looks a little dewy and very natural.  As an added bonus, it will also wear a bit longer.  If you still want more coverage, it is perfectly acceptable to apply more foundation after your mist has dried.

When applying eye shadows and liner, the colors look more vibrant and wear without creasing if they are applied wet.  Rather than pouring shadow out of the jar and adding water to them, try loading up your brush with color and working the color into the bristles, then spritz the brush!  By doing this, you avoid having overly wet shadows, and by the time you have applied the shadow to your eye, your brush is dry enough to repeat the process.  This technique works very well with the liners and gives a more dramatic look than using them dry, but less dramatic than if you mixed up shadow with water in a container.

Until November 2, receive an atomizer with any Alima Pure purchase of $20 or more (before shipping, and after any discounts).
