What We're Loving: Skincare Treatments, Bodycare and More

The final installment in our skincare series is the "everything else" category.  From serums and eye creams to body lotion and assorted products you may have laying around that can be used for skincare, this post will give you a few more of the Alima Pure staff favorites.

Eye Creams

Hannah (normal to sensitive skin; prefers vegan, cruelty free and organic products) uses different eye creams for day and night.  "For day, I like John Masters Organics Firming Eye Gel.  It works well under makeup.  I also like Suki Eye Repair Balm, but this is a heavier formula that I only use at night or in the winter when I have lots of dryness.  I've found it is too heavy to wear under makeup."

Terresa (normal skin) enjoys Keys Eye Butter.  "The avocado-rich formula feels very cooling.  It reminds me of a product (which shall remain nameless) that I used to love, until I discovered that it was filled with parabens.  With Keys products, you don't need to worry about that, they even print their EWG score on the label!"

Serums

Hannah likes Suki Bio-active Purifying Face Serum because "even though it is spendy, it works and lasts a long time."  She also likes Juice Beauty Blemish Clearing Serum "as a spot treatment, for night use, or under moisturizer during the day to help treat problem skin."  Hannah only uses these products occasionally.

Alyson (very dry skin) says, "I love to use Weleda's Pomegranate Firming Serum in the AM for an antioxidant boost. It really does feel firming too and always makes my makeup glide on better. I can always notice a difference when I skip it when I'm in a rush. In the PM I religiously use Eminence's Stone Crop Serum which naturally fights hyper-pigmentation issues and redness in the skin."

Body Care

Hannah has a few favorites in the body category.  "I like good old-fashioned bar soap, it's simple.  Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap in Peppermint is great, but it can be drying so I always follow up with a good moisturizer.  Organic Baby Unscented Shave Gel is another product from Dr. Bronner's that I enjoy.  It's a great option for sensitive skin." (Editor's note:  although we love Dr. Bronner's products, we aren't sure we condone giving razors to babies.)  Hannah's favorite body lotion is Avalon Organics Unscented Hand & Body Lotion.

Things you may have on hand

Hannah and Terresa both love coconut oil as a body moisturizer, and Hannah also likes using it as a hair treatment. When her skin feels particularly dry, Terresa mixes some with a little of her Alima Pure Satin Matte Foundation and applies it and allows it to absorb. Then she follows with a light dusting of foundation to take down the shine and for more coverage.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil is popular around the office, Hannah uses it for hair, skin and for making scrubs; Alyson adds it to moisturizer; Terresa uses it to remove makeup and to moisturize hands and Kate likes it as a facial cleanser.

Hannah uses sugar as a body scrub, mixed with any of the oils she keeps on hand.  She also likes Cocoa Butter and Shea Butter as moisturizers, and Aloe as a moisturizer and for after sun exposure.  She uses Honey for a calming and moisturizing face mask. New mommy Robyn used Cocoa Butter on her baby-belly to help prevent stretch marks and itching.

Alyson and Hannah also both love Argan Oil for skin and hair; and Terresa and Hannah both like Desert Essence Organic Jojoba Oil for a lightweight, all-over moisturizer.

We always enjoy hearing what you use and love, so feel free to leave us comments!
