Award Season is now in full swing now, and the A-List celebs are burning up the red carpet with hot (or icy-cool) looks that you can recreate at home using pure mineral makeup.
From last Saturday’s Screen Actors Guild Awards, we thought Cate Blanchett’s makeup was the most beautiful. The Blue Jasmine star wore a pale pink dress that could easily have been overpowered by smoky eyes or dark lips, but instead, was perfectly accented by her pale pink makeup look.

The key to doing soft pinks in makeup is to cover any redness in your complexion so that the pink doesn’t call attention to it. Apply your foundation (we’re thinking Cate would wear about a Neutral 1) with the #15 Flat Top Foundation Brush for fuller coverage. After applying foundation to the entire face, use either your #15 Brush or your #3 Concealer Brush to make sure that there is no redness remaining around the nose or under the eyes.
Next, apply Apple Blossom Satin Matte Blush to the apples of the cheeks, and blend it back towards the hairline. If your skin is darker than Cate’s, you might find that Pink blush works a bit better.
For the eyes, use a soft, fluffy brush like the #37 Eye Blending Brush to apply Hyacinth Luminous Shimmer Eyeshadow to the entire eye area. Then use the #39 Large Shadow Brush to apply Camellia Satin Matte Eyeshadow to the lid and blend up beyond the crease.
With your #33 Angle Liner Brush, fill in brows with the Satin Matte Eyeshadow that is the closest to your brow color. (For Cate, we would recommend Blonde.) Once you have shaped and filled the brows, wipe the brush on a clean towel and dip it in to some Black Satin Matte Eyeliner. After working the color into the bristles of the brush, spritz the bristles with a little water, and line your upper lash line. Then use the #31 Fine Lining Brush with a bit of Hyacinth to line under the lower lashes.
Apply at least two coats of Black Natural Definition Mascara to the upper lashes, and lightly touch the lower lashes with what is left on the brush after doing the top. (Do not re-dip the wand; the effect should be very subtle on lower lashes.)
Looking for a more sultry red carpet look?
We noticed that the The Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco (or her makeup artist) must have viewed Kristen Arnett’s Me Encanta Sultry tutorial video! While we can’t say that Kaley was wearing our Me Encanta color set, we know for certain that the collection, and Kristen’s makeup tips, will give you everything you need to recreate her look for your own special event.
