“Self-pampering” simply means treating the self with a little bit of extra consideration and care. The results benefit–not only ourselves–but those around us. When we move from a place of stress and tension to greater serenity, we are happier and more at peace. At the same time, we are able to be more loving and present for those around us. Here are 5 of my Favorite Forms of Self-pampering:
1. Classic Movies: Old, sentimental movies are a lovely way to release the mind to gentler pastures. My favorite is To Kill a Mockingbird. Other comforting classics include: How Green Was My Valley, The Wizard of Oz, All This, and Heaven Too, and Great Expectations. Add a soft blanket, willing lap cat or dog, and cup of calming herbal tea, for extra touch of self-coddling. A square or two of chocolate doesn’t hurt, either. Read the rest of this entry »

Who doesn’t like haiku? It is a form of poetry that almost anyone can participate in and enjoy. So pull out your pencils and start writing!
The rules are simple. Pick an Alima Pure shade (not an entire category). Write a haiku about that shade. Submit your haiku to: contests@alimapure.com, and be sure to include your full name and address. Entries will be accepted from now until October 16. A winner will be selected each week, from October 8 to December 17, and the winning haiku will be posted on the Alima Pure blog, Facebook page and/or website. By entering the contest, you are giving us permission to publish your haiku in those locations. (Authors will be credited by first name, last initial and city.) One question we receive frequently is: “why doesn’t Alima offer a mascara?” It appears that many are keen for the inclusion of a natural mascara into Alima’s line. The idea of a natural mascara is wonderful on the surface, but more complicated upon closer inspection. In fact, mascara (as a “damp” product) requires preservatives in order to be safe for use around the eye area. Alima believes in “leaving a light footprint” in all of our actions both in business and in our personal lives. We recycle. We use pure and natural ingredients in our products and eco-friendly packing materials. We limit our carbon emissions to reduce our impact on global warming. And we are aware that more can always be done.
Perhaps this is why we like Feng Shui, which cultivates the flow of harmonious energy through use of solar light, running water, free air ventilation, growing plants, and the presence of animals. “Feng Shui” literally means: “wind water.” Beauty originates in nature and all attempts to enhance beauty stem back to nature.
